The Calgary Game Developers Association is dedicated to the promotion and support of local game creators in the city. Interested in joining a community of game designers, programmers, artists and musicians? We're all only one click away.
Founded in 2015 The Calgary Game Developers Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a local community around creating video games. Regardless of skill level or profession, we encourage anyone interested in making games to come out to meetups, engage with other members, and build up your passion towards making awesome games here in the city of Calgary!
Current members have garnered critical acclaim and financial success launching games on platforms such as Steam, the Oculus store, the Apple App Store, Google Play, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo. Our community has a wealth of knowledge from individuals who have real life experience creating and launching games into the global market.
Once a month the CGDA meets in person to socialize, discuss game development and listen to presentations from other local members. Meetups are always free and open to anyone interested in making games.
YYC Game Critique is like a book club for games, where each month we pick a new game that we feel will make for good discussion. Next up is Hi-Fi Rush. RSVP to join us as seats are limited.
Once a quarter the CGDA meets on the Discord channel where local developers can show what they've been working on. These Meetups are always free and open to anyone interested in making games.
Once a quarter we all gather on the CGDA Discord channel to see what everyone in the community is working on. Join us at online 7PM to see what local game developers are creating!
Level up your game development journey at Indie Friday! This weekly event is a co-working session where game developers across the city can bring their projects and work alongside other game creators. The event is frequented by programmers, artists, designers, musicians, and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring their projects and receive feedback on their games.
The event usually takes place every Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM in the East Annex room at the Platform Innovation Centre. Join the #indie-friday channel in our Discord to learn about each week's attendance, time, and location.
Paid members of the CGDA get all kinds of cool stuff! Perks include reduced rates to local gaming related events, access to educational videos, and even eligibility to join us on trips to international functions like GDC and PAX.
It basically pays for itself and you'll even get the added benefit of knowing you're helping support the local game development community :)
